Affected Vehicles

Renault

Laguna 2 (2001 - 2007) | All G9T diesel engines

Espace 4 (2002 - 2014) | All G9T diesel engines

Vel Satis (2002 - 2005) | All G9T diesel engines

Symptoms

Faults

D070 Flywheel sensorshutterstock_418121518

Possible Causes

1. Flywheel sensor and or its connection

Repair Steps

1. Check and confirm customer complaint

2. Scan engine ecu using diagnostic tool and check for fault codes

If fault codes above are or are not seen proceed with the next check as below

3. Check the engine rpm when cranking the vehicle

This can be seen in engine ecu – parameters – engine speed.
Or, use an oscilloscope and check signal is above 60 Milli volts.
If no engine speed, or low output at the sensor see below. If this check is correct this document does not apply.

4. Check wiring to flywheel sensor

Refer to manufacturers wiring/repair information

5. If wiring is correct replace flywheel sensor and its connector with modified parts

Refer to manufacturers wiring/repair information
See Renault parts department for most up to date part numbers

6. Clear fault codes in the engine ecu

7. Road test and ensure the fault is rectified
